A Review of the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care Services is being undertaken by the Australian Government and all state and territory governments, to ensure the goal of improving quality in education and care services is being met in the most efficient and effective way. The Review aims to identify what is working well, areas for improvement and any unintended consequences that resulted from implementation of the National Quality Framework.

The first stage of the Review was a public consultation process, with a summary of the findings published in 2014.

The second stage of the Review has involved public consultation on proposed options for changes to the National Quality Framework. These proposals are set out in the Consultation Regulation Impact Statement, and include a particular focus on how the options might affect the sector, families and the community.

Key stakeholders, including the education and care sector, families and the community have been asked to provide feedback on the proposed options, with the feedback to be used to update the RIS and assist governments in making decisions about what changes may be made.
