KU Mayfield Preschool has acknowledged National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week with a visit from Uncle Bill Smith, a Kamilaroi/Gomeroi Elder, who helped organise a traditional Aboriginal smoking ceremony at the preschool.

“We found being involved in this experience to be quite powerful, and it has sparked lots of conversation and artwork amongst the children,” said KU Mayfield Director, Karen Hugo.

“As educators, we hope that opportunities for children to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures will lead to a united future where we can all learn from one another.”
