Education and Support

At KU, we strive to provide quality inclusive early childhood education where the needs of all children are met by staff working in a collaborative team approach.

KU services provide flexible play-based programs that are responsive to the needs of each child and enhanced by the development of Individual Learning Plans (ILP’s).

Government funding is available to services to support the provision of an inclusive and supportive educational environment based on individual children’s support needs. This funding is used for a range of activities approved by the relevant programs, including to employ educators who are additional to the licensed number of staff required by the Education and Care Services National Regulations.

KU Education and Support Team

The KU Education and Support Team consists of two teams whose primary focus is to support the inclusion of children in KU services.

  • Education Support Managers

Our Education Support Managers support KU services with the inclusion needs of enrolled children. They are available to support educators and families when they have concerns regarding a child’s development or behaviour, as well as supporting educational outcomes for children with diagnosed disability or developmental delay.

Education Support Managers have qualifications in Early Childhood Education and Teaching as well as postgraduate qualifications in Special Education or related fields.

The Education Support Manager may visit the service your child attends by direct request of the family, the service, or as a part of general education support, and may also liaise with therapists and allied health professionals.

  • Autism Support Team

Autism Support Facilitators are Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) certified therapists who provide specialised support to educators in KU services working with children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or undergoing assessment for ASD.

Autism Support Facilitators provide guidance and support to Directors and service teams to strengthen their capacity to deliver quality inclusive educational programs that are responsive to the individual learning and behaviour support plans of children with ASD.
