About this service

Our program and approach

When children play and explore, their imagination and curiosity are sparked – they enjoy learning and are inspired to continue learning more.

Our play-based program intentionally provides a wide range of engaging opportunities and activities based on the Early Years Learning Framework.

Specialising in relationships, our long-term involvement in research projects has deeply enriched our capacity to support each child’s emotional and social wellbeing. Our use of models like Playspaces®, Circle of Security and Marte Meo enable children to feel nurtured and secure.

Family testimonials

KU James Cahill parent
“KU James Cahill is a beautiful centre. Whilst it is a little old, it is comfortable for the children and has plenty of space for them. The educators were generally very kind and warm and made genuine efforts to engage with each child. It is a very relaxed centre, which does not feel crowded or manic the way other inner city commercial centres do. The educators also have a degree of experience and maturity which is reassuring for parents.”

KU James Cahill parent
“Staff are very open to discussions with parents. Welcoming of parents participating and open to listening to parents’ suggestions regarding helping with behaviour concerns, etc. They don’t overreact to children’s problematic behaviours and have a high skill level in developmentally appropriate behaviours and dealing with them.”

KU James Cahill parent
“Our experience with KU James Cahill has superseded all expectations. Both our daughters have benefited greatly from the wonderful environment created for them to safely learn about themselves and their world.”

KU James Cahill parent
“I don’t think there is a better early education facility in the country. My son loves the centre. He has thoroughly enjoyed himself, learnt so much and become very independent. Thank you.”

KU James Cahill parent
‘”The educators work at the children’s pace and meet them where they’re at. They go above and beyond to engage the children in activities, even if they are labour-intensive ones.”

My little one just finished pre-school at this centre and has started kindy now. KU James Cahill has been so wonderful the past year, my little one has grown into a confident little person ready to tackle the world. We've had an uneventful transition into kindy and I must give lots of credit to the wonderful educators at this centre. A year ago the Centre Director Ewa Kuras welcomed us warmly, we were already at a different centre for 2 days and joined KU for another 2 days. After 2 months we transitioned to KU fully as my child was just more excited to attend KU (as opposed to the other centre!) Ewa has been so impactful to our experience, always so calm and controlled. I sense she's a great leader and the she handles the kids so well. There is a calmness about this centre that I really like and I think Ewa played a big role here. Particularly would also like to mention Sakshi, Fitri, Mina who have all been wonderful! Thanks so much everyone, we have such fond memories!

My daughter and I have loved KU James Cahill. After being a bit unhappy at 2 other pre-schools she came here for her last 2 years before primary and has completely blossomed! The staff put a lot of love and effort into activities and nurture the kids in an active way. The space also is big and varied. The only down-side was having to bring in her food and the 4:30 pick up, which did impact our schedule a bit, but I am very glad we made the move. It’s also relatively affordable compared to places around the area. Thank you!

I love this place, I went here about 8 years ago and this was the best place. I don’t have a lot of memory but the Is is a really good pre school. I used to live around here so I went here and it was a great choice. If you live in the area send your child here as it has good learning ability and great staff. From when I went it was a good quality and hope it would stay the same. I hope that the owner can see this because they did a good job as a preschool and a childhood.

I attended this kindy way back in 1976 when i was a 3yr old. (Yeah, im sounding OLD lol), With fond memories, im still in touch with some friends from there today. I highly recommend James Cahill kindergarten for any parent, without favouritism and not just because i went there. Wonderful little school that teaches its little students a great education, with the fundamental beginnings of life.
