About this service

Our program and approach

When children play and explore, their imagination and curiosity are sparked – they enjoy learning and are inspired to continue learning more.

Our play-based program intentionally provides a wide range of engaging opportunities and activities based on the Early Years Learning Framework.

We have an ongoing commitment to sustainability and nature education. Our natural resources and excursions to Barangaroo Headland Park allow children to explore and connect with nature. As children learn about nature, they develop respect for the environment, while nurturing their wellbeing.

Family testimonials

“

KU Lance parent
“Children are encouraged to play, use their initiative and imagination, be independent and stretch themselves. They’re encouraged to engage with one another respectfully, thoughtfully and with kindness. The staff are wonderful. The kids have a real sense of belonging and community. My seven year old still talks about his daycare and my three year old refers to it as ‘My Lance’ and loves his teachers.”

KU Lance has really been a godsend for us! Small classes, engaging and caring educators combined with plenty of outdoor play have equaled a perfect combination for my son’s development. The centre is excellent at fostering each student’s unique interest and abilities. My son has been so happy there for the last 10 months - I hate to think about when it comes to school time actually. He loves playing with his friends who he regularly talks about, and I’m sure this is due to the empathic environment he’s in. He’s very comfortable to be himself and loves going there.

KU Lance has the best location and rich history, shaded by huge trees facing Sydney harbour, short walk to Barangaroo Park, it is the best position for children to go on excursion, play in a sun safe outdoor area to learn, explore and thrive. The educators are amazing, very friendly, kind and creative, most of them have been there for a long time, it gives children stabilities, security and the sense of safety. They encourage children to explore, be independent, take responsibilities, learning languages and celebrating various cultures. My daughter has been attending this Centre since 4 months old, she could clean up dishes after meals, share with other children, build great friendship, learn letters, alphabets, singing, painting, jumping, conversing, caring for plants and animals, etc.. and most importantly respect others. It is definitely an incredible environment to prepare young children to formal education and bright future.

The most inclusive, diverse, playful, collaborative daycare centre I've ever come across. The teachers are fantastic - the centre is homely and inviting, and the children are all HAPPY! There is an incredible chef, Paula onsite who prepares their nutritious daily meals and lovingly bakes the kids cakes for their birthdays. Raf has been going for a couple of years now, and there are never tears about going to daycare anymore. They regularly go to the local markets together to get fruit and veges, and have picnics at Barangaroo reserve. It really is a home away from home, and so comforting to know your kids are well looked after, having an amazing learning experience, and most importantly playing lots!

My son has been attending KU Lance since he was 1 (he is now nearly 5) and we have had a wonderful experience. Welcoming atmosphere, lovely and intelligent staff, plenty of playtime inside and out and excursions to Barangaroo park and the local market. I would definitely recommend.

As soon as I walked into KU Lance for a tour, I instantly felt how homely it was. The established setting of this daycare, with three big trees, standing sentry over the outdoor area (yes, a real outdoor space!), instantly appealed to me.As a first time mother, with such a young baby starting daycare (7 months old) I was apprehensive about where I sent him two days a week. I could not have found a more inviting, caring, happy and healthy environment for him. He adores his time at KU Lance. The staff are incredible. With many of them having worked at KU Lance for numerous years - that in itself, speaks volumes.Other daycare centres had left me feeling disappointed and "hollow" after their tours.KU Lance is authentic - I'm so glad I found this daycare!

What stood out for us at KU Lance were the teachers, the ethos and the physical environment. Together, they create a calm space for children to initiate activities that spark their interest. Children can move, at will, between the indoor and outdoor spaces while remaining safe and supervised. This meant our active, inquisitive child had many happy hours (across the week) playing in the sandpit, in between taking part in organised activities devised by the wonderful staff, including science experiments, cooking, mixed-media painting, digging for treasure, yoga, play-dough, sensory play, water-play and so on. Individual special interest activities were also provided for our 2 year old who loves numbers and letters. In addition to novel experiences, children always had access to puzzles, drawing tools, books, a play kitchen, toys and toy vehicles as well as the care and support of their teachers. Music, singing and dancing were daily activities, also. We really felt confident that our child could express herself at KU Lance. She was clearly engaged each day in interesting activities, and bonded well with her care-givers. We could see that the children expressed care for each other each, too. Other unique features of KU Lance include the onsite cook, who prepares wonderful fresh meals, and a pet bunny who is fed kitchen scraps by the children. We are sorry we had to leave and are so grateful for the 12 months of care and education our child received there. Five stars!
