KU Children’s Services has been recognised as an Employer of Choice at The Australian Business Awards 2024 for the ninth consecutive year. KU has received this accolade after becoming the first early education provider in the country to receive this prestigious award in 2016.

Receiving the award nine years in a row is an early childhood sector record and highlights KU’s outstanding commitment to employee wellbeing and culture over an extended period and maintains KU’s reputation as Australia’s leading employer of choice in the early childhood sector.

Ms Christine Legg, CEO of KU Children’s Services, accepted the award on behalf of KU and its more than 2,000 employees across over 125 services and programs.

“KU is incredibly proud of KU’s positive staff culture and to have been named again as an Employer of Choice at The Australian Business Awards for nine consecutive years,” said Ms Legg.

“We’re committed to ensuring our workplace culture allows for people to thrive, innovate and develop lifelong careers, and we warmly welcome new staff into the KU family, invest in their future, and support them as people.”

“We remain firmly focused on living our values, and by placing our people at the heart of all we do, we constantly reimagine and co-create a world of work where our people and our purpose thrive in harmony in a supportive and inclusive culture.”

KU’s commitment to a thriving and supported professional workforce is also reflected in the quality of their services which are ranked amongst the highest quality in the country – 76% of KU services have been independently rated as ‘Exceeding’ the National Quality Standard, compared to the national average of just 23% (Source: Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority, 2023).

The Australian Business Award for Employer of Choice recognises organisations that develop leading workplaces that maximise the full potential of their workforce through established policies and practices that demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.

Organisations were required to demonstrate their achievements across the key areas of Culture, Leadership and Strategy; Education, Training and Development; Performance, Recognition and Remuneration; and Health, Safety and Satisfaction. Entries were assessed through a robust and dynamic framework, enabling participating organisations to be benchmarked against world-class performance standards.
