Newly appointed NSW Minister for Early Childhood Education, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, and Assistant Minister for Education, The Hon. Sarah Mitchell MLC, has visited the children at KU Killara Park Preschool.

Mrs Mitchell stopped by the preschool to learn more about the children, educators and program at KU Killara Park and how the centre operates on a day-to-day basis.

“Not only is the playground a beautiful place for the children’s imagination to run wild, the use of technology, especially the app Aurasma, was very impressive and something as a mother I can appreciate,” Mrs Mitchell said.

“We gave Sarah a tour of the preschool and spoke about the three areas of specialisation that supported us in achieving our ‘Excellent’ rating, including our use of technology, the power of language and nature play excursions,” said KU Killara Park Director, Katrina Hendry.

“We also spent time giving Sarah an overview of the history of KU and the programs we offer, while she shared stories with us about her background, her current portfolio and her three year old daughter,” said Katrina.

Mrs Mitchell spent time with the children as they took part in arts and craft activities and later sat down with the children in the preschool’s large natural outdoor environment to read them a story.

“Thanks to the team for having me. I look forward to watching your future success,” said Mrs Mitchell.
