On Monday 15 August 2011, the Minister for Education, the Hon. Adrian Piccoli MP, formerly launched the NSW Review of Early Childhood Education Funding. Minister Piccoli made his announcement at KU Concord and we thank the staff, children and families at the centre for accommodating the Minister, his staff and the media on the day.
The Review will be conducted by Professor Deborah Brennan, an eminent and well known researcher from the Social Policy Research Centre, University of NSW. Professor Brennan is one of Australia's leading researchers in early childhood education and family policies.
KU welcomes this funding review and are pleased to see that the review has an evidence based approach that will:
- Analyse and compare International and Australian early childhood education and care funding arrangements
- Assess current access and participation rates in NSW
- Identify gaps and factors affecting participation and access to EC programs
- Recommend funding principles
A website has been set up with information about the review, including the terms of reference and information on how to make submissions. KU will be submitting an organisational response to the review which is due by Friday 30 September 2011.
